The truth behind the Moomin mugs...

Every household in Finland has at least one item of Iittala’s design glass or porcelain. The Arabia Moomin series is famous. But there is something important about the Moomin mugs. The story goes that Finnish lesbians traditionally get children by getting a man to jack off into a Moomin mug and then use the sperm to get pregnant. Because of the quality of the mugs, the chance to get a baby from a Moomin mug would be much higher…

Songs for you, songs for me

Music is important to my girlfriend and I. I decided to make a top list of songs my girl and I sent to each other. And, here it is! It’s really personal sometimes. Some songs need an explanation, so I made that too. Enjoy listening! Feel free to ask if you have questions or additions.

Snälla bli min - Veronica Maggio
Swedish blonde beauty singing an amazingly sweet song. Stays in your head for days! English translation: Please be mine, listen the song here on YouTube.

Jungle Drum - Emiliana Torrini
I guess this (after a while little ennoying in my opinion) song doesn’t need any explanation. Listen here on YouTube

The Longer The Waiting, The Sweeter The Kiss - Anna Ternheim
Original sung by Josh Turner, Swedish singer/songwriter Anna Ternheim covers it really well! Little help though from Dave Ferguson. This is one of THE songs about a LDR! Listen here in YouTube.

Mary - Bertolf
On some moments, when my girlfriend and I listen to this song, our eyes get wet. The lyrics of it says it all. It’s the (true) story of (Dutch) singer/songwriter Bertolf who have never met his girlfriend’s mother because she died before Bertolf got together with his girl. Me and my girl have the same story. And it’s so true. I really feel it the way he sings and wrote those words. Please read the lyrics here. Listen the song here on YouTube.

Your Song - Ellie Goulding
Ellie Goulding covers Your Song from Elton John. Just beautiful. Listen here on YouTube.

You and Me (In My Pocket) - Milow
Funny song, creative lyrics. Just watch the official video, it’s really special. The whole clip was shot in one take! Watch it here on YouTube. Belgian creativity!

Working, waiting, wishing.

Okay. Long days. Well, every day is still 24 hours, one hour is 60 minutes and every minute is 60 seconds. More and more I notice that I am just waiting for days to pass… At the same time, I have a really nice and busy (almost fulltime) job which I enjoy a lot. I do my work pretty good, but still… at every single moment when my thoughts drift away I think of my girlfriend and how much time there is left before we will see and hold each other again. I’m counting days, weekends, weeks and months to every single time we will be together. I’m (secretly) already counting down the weeks and months until the moment arrives where we will close the distance for good.

Another thing about time, when I look at a clock, I automatically calculate one hour more to know what time it is in at her place.

And until that time, I am just working, waiting and wishing.

She is amazing!

I got home from work today… And guess what? My girl sent me a whole bunch of red roses for Valentine! All the way from Finland.
But… this thing has a good story with it. She tried to have the flowers delivered at my work, but she could only find a postbox-number. So, yesterday evening, I got a call from the delivery service. They (obviously) can’t deliver flowers to a postbox… I made them the flowers delivered to my home address instead. Very nice! But think about it… who will ever send flowers to a postbox? Yeah, my girl! Thanks my love!

Wow *breathe*

Monday evening I got back in The Netherlands. The amazing long weekend in Helsinki together with my Finnish girlfriend has passed. I never have been happier than last weekend. My girl is a fantastic person. And now the countdown has started all over again. 23 nights of sleep before my love comes to The Netherlands.
Things we did last weekend:

- surprise party for her birthday
- sleigh riding (fast!)
- even did some work at her office
- had dinner at Fazer’s
- went to Stockmann
- celebrated her birthday again :)
- played pool at the Corona Bar (won)
- made dance moves at night club DTM (best gay club in Helsinki)
- watched Shrek
- strolled through the snow

It was great! Thanks my love!

SURPRISE!

Me and her best friend made some secret plan two months ago... We wanted to give my Finnish girl an unforgettable birthday. We thought about a surprise party, and.....

The surprise was great! My girl has always thought that I would arrive in Finland on the 8th of February, one day later than her birthday. But… I fixed, together with one of my girl’s best friends, a sushi-surpriseparty on her birthday (the 7th) with the closest friends. I arrived one day before my love expected me… You should have seen her face when she walked into Tokio55… I have never seen a face more surprised, happy and overwhelmed than hers. When she hugged me, she even had to cry. Me and my partner in ‘crime’ (the best friend) had so much fun in preparing the whole thing, and it worked out better than expected! And we have a nice story for birthdays now :P

Back home, counting down

Wow. We are both back home from our trips abroad. My Finnish girl went to Thailand with her sister, I went to Austria to skate with my team. Being back home means that we can talk using Facetime again, WhatsApp, Pair (which turned into 'Couple' after the newest update) and so on. Life is easier with internet ;)
The long-time-no-see-over-a-month is hard. We miss each other more than ever before, and having those lacks of internet made it even worse. And on top of that, I got a serious injury while skating, I crashed onto the ice pretty badly. It must have been hard for my girlfriend to hear that I was brought to the hospital. And at the same time, I could really use a hug from the one I love most. Luckily, as we speak, we have only four days left before we can hold each other again. And I am okay, 'only' bruises and strained muscles in my upper body. I can deal with that, and even better, I can fly to Helsinki on Friday!
